The Croatian Adriatic is one of the clearest stretches of water in Europe. It warms more slowly than the southern Mediterranean because of the mountain backdrop and deep channels, but the reward is glassy water through July and August.
Month-by-month
- May: 17–19°C in the north, 18–20°C in the central and southern islands.
- June–September: 22–25°C across most of the coast; August is peak at 24–26°C.
- October: 19–22°C in the south; early autumn is often the calmest month.
- November–April: 12–16°C — beautiful, but wetsuit or cold-water swimming territory.
